Taliban Requests Mattresses and Pillows from Ghor Residents

Kabul – A letter was received on social media by users asking a number of villages in the center of Ghor province to send blankets, mattresses, and pillows to Taliban members.

A letter which was posted on Tuesday, (November 9), was demanded from the northern rural people of Bazaar-Maidan and the Bura-Khana area of Firozkoh in the center of Ghor to send blankets, mattresses, and pillows through shopkeepers to the Taliban forces.

Local sources in Firozkoh told Hasht-e Subh that the Taliban had asked them for firewood and winter fuel in addition to what was mentioned in the letter.

The locals have been forced to pay for these letters upon arrival in their areas, according to the sources.

Ghor residents say they will face harsh treatment from the Taliban if they do not deliver the mentioned items.

On the other hand, sources in the Bura-Khana area of the provincial capital told Hasht-e Subh that the requests of the Taliban, in addition to the long-running war, drought, and lack of facilities, have made life bitter for them.

Meanwhile, Mawlawi Abdul Hai Zaeem the director of Information and Culture in Ghor province told Hasht-e Subh that he would investigate the matter.

“Taliban forces should not take anything from the people by force,” he added.

In the meantime, with the arrival of winter and recent political and economic changes, in addition to drought, it has become more difficult for people to eat and live without food.
