Taliban Detains Two Iranian Political Refugees in Kabul

About 20 Taliban rebels raided these Iranian refugees’ homes and took them away blindfolded to an unknown location.

Kabul – The Taliban have arrested two Iranian political refugees named Mohammad Mehdi Homayoon Zarean and Kamal Khaki in Karta-e-Naw, Kabul.

A source told Hasht-e Subh that around 8:00 PM last night, about 20 Taliban rebels raided these Iranian refugees’ homes and took them away blindfolded to an unknown location.

The motive behind their detention is not yet clear.

“The Taliban could not find any criminal evidence, searching their house, and both of them also have a UN refugee document,” the source further said. “The Taliban did not allow anyone to approach the house when they detained the refugees.”

The UN High Commissioner for Refugees has not yet commented on the issue.

Homayoon Zarean has been living in Afghanistan for eight years and Kamal Khaki for four years. They were not allowed to work in Afghanistan under the previous government laws. These two Iranian politicals lived in a shared house in Kabul.

The Taliban has not yet commented on the matter.
